Welcome to Ashcroft House B&B. Whether you are visiting Victoria for the first time or have already fallen in love with our local secrets, David & I invite you to discover, and fall in love with, Ashcroft House's best kept secrets! Our 1898 designated heritage landmark home has been fully refurbished with all the modern amenities you have come to expect in your travels, and a few of our own special touches. Our house is on a quiet residential street in historical James Bay, an easy 10 block walk into Victoria's spectacular downtown Inner Harbour or a quick 3 minute drive. We think you'll agree our location is even more precious with the ocean and it's sweeping water & mountain views, the miles of seaside strolling paths, and the 200 beautiful acres of Beacon Hill Park is all just amazingly 1 block from the front door. For your interest I have written about many of our features and amenities further down on this page. Read more about our famous scones included in the four course breakfast, and our comfortable rooms, and beautiful location with distances to the most popular Victoria BC attractions. Please do not hesitate to email or call us if we can help with your trip planning. We hope you have a wonderful time during your visit to Victoria, we think you'll fall in love with our beautiful city just as we did 8 years ago!

Our Mornings

Everyone enjoys savoring our fabulous breakfasts, and it is all about the scones or so I'm told. At some point in the last couple of years we were secretly reviewed by a travel book from France, Routarde, and at the end of the review & house description, the last line is “The scones are not to be missed”. They also seem to be a hot topic in the reviews our guests leave on trip advisor and such, I guess I can't stop baking up my light and fluffy, flaky, tasty scone fresh every morning! Our lovely 4-course mornings start with a homemade nut & seed muesli mix, crunchy granola, and natural yogurt. Next we serve pick of the season sweet sliced fresh fruit, following this by a scrumptious pairing of daily fresh home baked scones and muffins. Just in case you’re not full yet we then hope you enjoy our fresh hot plate of the day, actually the best part of breakfast are the little baggies I bring out so you can save a scone for your afternoon tea break thus saving you some room for our delicious hot plate that follows. We vary the main plate everyday from sweet to savory and know you’ll love some of our favorites like crustless quiche, Parmesan fritatas, light and airy true Buttermilk waffles, not to mention David's delectable crepes! We serve our breakfast in the warm and sunny breakfast room; this fully windowed room has such a bright and inviting ambiance - there is just no other way to start your morning!

Our Rooms

With your comfort in mind, we have created Ashcroft House to have all the amenities of home. We have set our beds with 100% pima cotton satinteen sheets, and cozy down comforters, all on top of luxurious mattresses (you won’t want to get out of bed!). Our rooms are well appointed with coffee & tea, bottled water, television, radio (alarm), telephone, hairdryer, handmade soaps and shampoo. So come in and rest awhile, wrap yourself up in our cozy robes, curl up in a chair or climb up onto the bed, and plan tomorrows adventures. Browse through some of our many books on Victoria and Vancouver Island hot spots. All of our rooms are privately ensuited and all walls opened for the renovations were insulated for warmth and sound, it really is like being home.

Our Location

We looked for 3 long years to find the right spot and when we saw this house David couldn't make it to the realtors office fast enough, I knew I married a smart man! :-)

We really do have the best of both worlds; a quaint and quiet residential location in James Bay just blocks from the bustling Inner Harbour that Victoria is so famous for. A short 10 block stroll will find you in the famous downtown Inner Harbour, touring and photographing the BC Legislature Parliament Buildings, Grand old lady Empress Hotel, and the famous Royal British Columbia Museum. This is of course the gateway to local shopping & dining of historical Government Street, Market Square, Lower Johnson, and of course Canada's oldest Chinatown is right around the next corner. After all your downtown exploration come on back home, drop off the souvenirs, and take a stroll along the famous Dallas road oceanside walkways, just a block from the house. Recharge the batteries with that fresh sea air and then wander back home through beautiful Beacon Hill Park capture some fantastic photos of the resident peacocks and great blue herons. Come and share our little piece of the Victoria experience, you will feel right at home in our historic & friendly seaside neighborhood. We are also an easy drive to many of our local gardens, historical castles, wilderness hikes, and beautiful viewpoints; we are happy to point you in the direction of your choice. The famous Butchart Gardens is not located in the downtown core of Victoria but again we can show you the easiest drive and or most convenient shuttle, no worries!
